Yesterday, the Mambo Foundation announced that they will use CakePHP for the next version of the Mambo Open Source CMS:

Pretty cool to see an existing open source project switch to CakePHP! Hopefully, more will follow ;-)
Update 2007-07-25: See also the official statement of the CakePHP team.

Just after announcement a domain name mambo-foundation.org has been expired. :)
We had a mis-communication on the domain registration, but are working through the issue now. Should hopefully be back up before too long.
Great news. I have not yet really used a CMS as they all seem so sloppy from a developer perspective. We use Drupal for some projects, and after the beauty of Cake I get a headache when I spend more than a few hours on anything Drupal.
So I sincerely hope they keep the same strict Cake standards in Mambo, to somehow stop all the user contributed modules from becoming a mess!
Yeah, das ist SO cool.
@all: Thanks for your comments!
@Sergey, cauld: The domain is back.
@Grant: I have the same problem with Wordpress, I am so used to the structure and ease of Cake that it is always a pain to do something with Wordpress.

i hope they will not, mambo is dead
@turtus: What do you refer to with “i hope they will not”? At least to me the project doesn’t seem dead.
Even if mambo was dead, what is the problem using cakephp? Maybe is a way of resurrecting anyway ;)
Well I guess I won’t be using Mambo anymore…
great move!
