Let’s start with the projects which are alive:

Event Portal: Event portal seems to be a kind of social network. From the project description: “This is a Portal where User can interact with others, share there blogs, write personal messages to other users, maintain a photo gallery and create events.”

There is an alpha version available as download.

Centerflow: Centerflow is a project management application. You can download a release from CakeForge. The project’s main website is centerflow.org.

Desmix CMS: As the name indicates, it is a content management system. There is some code in the repository, but no release yet.

Instantaneous: The goal of instantaneous is to build a tumblelog application. No release yet, but there is some code in the repository.

Control Tower: The Control Tower project is about creating an application like trac. The project hasn’t released any code yet, but you can find some code plus a road map in the repository.

Classifieds: This application allows users to browse and post classified ads. There is an alpha version available as download.

And here the projects which seem to be dead:

Design Studio – a form builder: A form builder.

Cowsay: I don’t know what the idea of this project was.

Listing Manager: A listing manager.

Gift Register: A web-based solution for providing your guests with a list of the things you’d most appreciate receiving on your wedding day, or other special occasion.

CupcakeBB: A forum plug-in.

FrontOffice for OOTP: No idea what this project is about.

I grouped the projects in four categories: alive, new, half-dead, and dead. I call a project “alive” if it provides some code, “new” projects are projects created recently, “half-dead” projects posted at least one news item, but no code, and projects are “dead” if there was no activity at all.

Let’s start with the projects which are alive:

Selling Made Simple: A shopping cart. There is an alpha version available as download and the project also has its own website: http://sellingmadesimple.org. I am not sure whether this project is still on CakeForge, at least on the website it points to SourceForge.

Attach This!: A solution for file uploads. An alpha version of this project is available.

mpFacebook: This project follows the goal to integrate Facebook into CakePHP. No release yet, but there is some code in the repository.

MochaLogger: A logging project that follows the logging style of Log4j. You can download it here.

Attachments: Sounds similar to the “Attach this!” project, it allows you to associate files with models. An alpha version (plus some other files) is already available.

New projects:

hans (here’s yet another displayengine): Xslt-based display extensions. I am not sure what exactly this project is about.

Lviv_Pizza: An application to manage a pizza restaurant. For learning purposes.

People manager: A contact manager.

eddyTicket (ticketing system): As the title says, a ticket management system.

Half-dead projects:

BAdaptive CMS: A CMS.

Project Manager: A project manager.

And last, the projects which seem to be dead:

TinyCart: Shopping cart.

Business Directory: Business directory with user reviews and comments.

OpenID for CakePHP: OpenID plug-in.

Cities Gallery Management: Application to manage galleries.

Gestor de Tareas: Task management application.

ScratchR: social media repository: Community-driven media repository.

KSV Noordergouw: Website for an association.

xbaseinc: A demo application.

FooBuzz Event Manager: Event Manager application.

SpaceBake: Tool to manage online game alliances.

Collaborative Data Store: Data management application.

Frosting: Frosting will be a site network CMS, whatever that may be. No code available yet.

MailingBaker: The goal of the MailingBaker project is to provide a plug-in to manage newsletters. No code available yet.

iGo CMS: This project seems to be a placeholder project, i.e. it simply points to another location where the development happens and where the download is available. In this case the project is located on sourceforge.

Sintok: Sintok will become an easy-to-use quiz creator. No code available yet.

Davidicus CMS: Davidicus is another CMS project. It already provides a release (see also the screenshot). The project is looking for contributors.

Simple Blog: As the title indicates, this project is about creating a blog application. No code available yet.

johnny cache: A project name which made me smile ;-) It is a caching system which should be simpler than the built-in system. You can download a release from CakeForge.

EZPDO + CakePHP: This project allows to use ezpdo, a object-relational mapper, together with CakePHP. A release is available.

Anno Domini – Calendar: Anno Domini is an Ajax powered calendar system. You can see it in action at http://education.byu.edu/calendar. You can download it from CakeForge, it even comes with a starter’s guide.

easy poll: As the name already says, it is a poll system. A release is available as download.

Lumad CMS: This project is also known as CupCake CMS and it looks like this is the primary project name as the project site is available at http://www.cupcakecms.com. A preview version is available as download.

Poophouse: The Poophouse will become an application for realtors.

Agora Forums: As the name indicates, this project’s goal is to write a forum application. No release yet, but there is some code available in the repository.

The Mashup API Project: The goal of this project by Nate is to provide a collection of components, behaviors and helpers to integrate various web service APIs. An alpha version is available as download.

DBDesigner 4 to CakePHP scaffold: dbdesigner2cake allows you to generate models and controllers from DBDesigner 4 files. You can download it from CakeForge.

Web Rocket: Webrocket is another CMS project. An alpha version is available as download. It seems that this project has moved to Assembla.

TohDoh: TohDoh is an Ajax todo list demo application. Installation instructions and a live demo can be found on CraZyLeGs website. Its source code can be downloaded from CakeForge.

Flow: Flow is an activity based petri net workflow plug-in. There exists a beta release of Flow.

PeoplePie: A social networking site.

Vanilla IDE: The goal of Vanilla IDE is to provide a platform independent IDE for CakePHP application development. “Platform independent IDE” sounds to me as it will be based on Eclipse. Let’s hope this project will be more lucky than a previous attempt to build an Eclipse plug-in.

Content Manager Plugin: The Content Manager is a plug-in to edit database tables directly.

Glued!: Glued! is another project related to social networking.

Poblog: Poblog stands for “Podcasting + Blogging” and should become a blog platform.

Hotcakes Hotspot Manager: An application to manage a hotspot.

Object Model: The Object Model project will provide method wrappers for the model to return objects instead of arrays, a feature planned for CakePHP 2.0.0.x.

Noswad Open Source: This project is intended to become the place for the demos from http://www.noswad.me.uk/, the website of Andy Dawson (aka ad7six).

Pagebakery CMS: A CMS projects of two Dutch students and a hosting company. There is no code available yet, but you can follow the progress of this project via their blog: http://pagebakery.nl/.

xbaseCRM: The goal of xbaseCRM is to build an open-source version of SugarCRM, even though SugarCRM itself is available in an open-source version…

conman – Conference Manager: conman is a new project of Tarique Sani, the author of cheesecake. This project is about creating a tool to manage technical conferences.

phpGACL for CakePHP: A plug-in written by Mariano Iglesias which allows you to use phpGACL with CakePHP. There is a release available, and some documentation in the form of an article, an API and a screencast.

Custom Product Designer: No idea what this project is about, there is no code and no description.

slackr F.C.: slackr F.C. should become a community portal.

Karamelo: Karamelo is an e-learning platform. It seems like a dead project on CakeForge, as the development happens on http://trac.mononeurona.org/trac/karamelo and the package can be downloaded from Chipotle Software.

pastryMail: pastryMail is webmail client POP3 and IMAP accounts. There is some code available in the repository.

Drake: Drake is another project by Mariano Iglesias and is a Drupal-CakePHP bridge. It seems dead on CakeForge, but there is a project site and you can download it from the Drupal site.

Jake: Jake is again a project by Mariano Iglesias. It is a Joomla-CakePHP bridge. There is a release available, and the project has also its own project site.

jobscry user manager: The goal of this project is to create a tool to manage users, groups and permissions. No release yet, but there is some code available in the repository.

Photo Island Photoblogging: A photoblog application. Seems to be dead, at least there is no activity and no code.

MasterBake – extending bake.php: MasterBake is a replacement for the bake.php script. It allows you to create your (scaffolded) application in a very, very short time. You can download it from http://cakeforge.org/frs/?group_id=128.

Bibliography Management: From the project site: “This project aims at creating a web bibliography management system that can allow multiple researchers to export, import and synchronize their bibliography for citation and sharing purposes.” Rather unusual for a new project is the number of developers: including the project manager there are eight persons involved in this project.

Sampler: Sampler allows you to setup multiple choice surveys. The project already provides a release.

Solliform CMS: As the name indicates this is a CMS project, this time for non-profit organizations.

Time Sheet: Time Sheet is an application for freelancers to track their time and to bill the clients. A release is available.

Sports Club CMS: As the name indicates this project should become a CMS for sport clubs. But the project seems to be dead as there is no activity.

ACL Admin: ACL Admin is a project by AD7six (Andy Dawson). It is a plug-in for administering ACL objects. A release is available.

AzulCMS: Another CMS project which seems dead.

PING: And again a CMS project which seems to be dead.

simple poll: This last project seems also to be dead.

CakePHP + phpBB integration: The title says everything: this project allows the integration of phpBB with a CakePHP application. There exists already a first version.

neolineCMS: neolineCMS is another attempt to write a content management system with CakePHP.

Open Club: The goal of this project is to develop an application to manage sport clubs. It has currently a very high activity, and so there is already some code in the repository.

ShopsViet: This project is about creating a Vietnamese online marketplace.

koinslot: The goal of koinslot is to develop PayPal-related components and helpers. There are some files available to download (for some reason the author didn’t put them in just one archive).

BakePay: BakePay is a plugin to handle payments in a CakePHP application. Even though the project was just created today there is already some code in the repository.

photozhaba: I don’t know what the goal of this project is. But according to google, “photozhaba” is a (Russian?) techie slang word for a Photoshop collage.

LinkRepo: As its name indicates, this project is about creating an application to store links.

Atomique: distributed photo sharing: The goal of this project is to create a distributed photo sharing system. You can find more information (including a demo) on the project site: http://www.atomique.org.

decorate: decorate is a modified version of the bake script. It provides some additional features: pagination, filtering and sorting. There are some screenshots available. You can download the release from CakeForge.

IDE plugins and enhancements: The goal of this project is to build a collection of plugins and enhancements for IDEs people are using to develop CakePHP applications.

BakeUI: As its name indicates, this project is about creating a (Windows) user interface for bake. I am wondering myself how such a user interface will look like, so I hope there will be a screenshot soon ;-)

Locale Component: The goal of the Locale Component project is “to provide simplified internationalization (i18n) and localization (l10n) facilities to CakePHP developers”. As there is no code available yet it is difficult to say how it will differ from the i18n support in the coming 1.2 version of CakePHP.

Trad1: I am not sure what this project is about. The project description is: “A small community for the closest friends”. Sounds like a kind of social networking application.

magnetcrm: The goal of this project is to build a CRM (customer relationship management) application for small businesses.

Payment by results analysis system: Again a project where I don’t know what it is about. Here the project description: “An analysis system for UK NHS payments by results data at the practice level. Aims to provide both analysis and validation against practice held data.”

Project Management system a la netoffice: The title says all: the goal is to create a project management application similar to NetOffice.

Pocky: CakePHP on a Stick: The goal of this project is to create a package with Lighttpd, PHP, and CakePHP, which you can run directly from an USB stick. You can find more information about this project in a post in the author’s blog.

BehaviourJS Helper: As its name says it is a helper for the Behaviour JavaScript library, a library that allows you to apply JavaScript to your HTML elements by using CSS selectors. There is already a release available.

MiniCalendar: The goal of this project is to provide a calendar for CakePHP.

XML Parser Component: It is obvious what the goal of that project is: to create an XML parser component. I don’t know how it will differ from the XML parser that is part of the coming 1.2 version of CakePHP.

Qubix CMS: The goal of this project is to create a CMS for Flash sites.

Capadonna: This is another Flash project. From the project description: “CakeAMFPHP / Actionscript Type Mapping System. Client side type mapping system to convert Cake data to and from typed flash objects via CakeAMFPHP remoting.”

DojoHelper: Another helper for a JavaScript library, this time for the Dojo Javascript Toolkit.

hdCalendar Plugin: Another calendar. In contrast to the aforementioned MiniCalendar project there is already some code available (http://cakeforge.org/frs/?group_id=82).

CakeForum: The goal of this project is obvious: to create a forum application.
